November 6, 2026 Afternoon Briefing

County Road 501 still has water on the road and warning signs are up just before the water crossing.

The Reservoir elevation is dropping, and we are about to go below 122,000-acre feet. Inflows continue to drop and all flows are on a positive track.

The releases are near 1,750 cfs and will stay at that level until Sunday evening unless another data analysis requires an adjustment. Both the DWR and USGS gages seem to be tracking well.

On Sunday evening, the plan is to reduce the releases to 1,350 cfs. We may be able to continue dropping over time, but we will run numbers every day and not get too far ahead of ourselves.

The weather forecast looks good for the next week, and the reservoir level will continue to drop to a safer level.

Assessments of damage around Vallecito Reservoir are taking place now and into the near future. There are hazards around the reservoir so be careful; however, the dam and release facilities are in great shape and handled the high water as intended. The releases did not exceed 1,950 cfs. Only the primary outlet gates and the powerplant were used for the releases.

Thanks for your attention, have a nice evening
