James Mallet

Position: Recreation Specialist
James Mallet

James Mallet was born into a military family at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento California in 1963.  In 1970, at the age of seven years old, James’ family moved to Durango, Colorado.  James finished his high school education in Durango.  He is the proud father of three daughters and a son.  James started working at the Pine River Irrigation District as a summer employee in 2016.  He immediately demonstrated an unusual work ethic that required minimal, if any, supervision, and an inherent ability to interact well with a wide cross-section of the general public with his pleasant and disarming personality.  At the same time, the PRID was focusing on improving its recreation program to be among the best in the Four Corners area and points beyond.  In May of 2021, James was hired as the PRID’s first "Recreation Specialist" to assist the District in meeting its recreation improvement goals and objectives.  James has garnered much praise from the general public, and the District alike for his effort, guidance, and “Boots on the Ground” approach as we continue improving our recreation program at the Pine River Irrigation District.
